With a background in biology and a specialization in bioinformatics, I work at the intersection of programming and life sciences. Here are a few notions I have learnt throughout my studies.
I am proficient in Bash, Python, and R, using them regularly for scripting, automation, statistical analysis and visualization. I also work daily with LaTeX for scientific reporting, and have experience building and styling web pages using HTML and CSS.
I am familiar with the use of PostgreSQL, Nextflow pipelines and Docker images.
During my apprenticeship, I developed expertise in sequencing data analysis, taxonomic assignment, and downstream processing. This includes the use of specialized tools for quality control (QC), assembly, annotation, and advanced analysis of both ONT and Illumina data. I also gained domain knowledge in microbiomes, genome structures, and bacteriophage biology.
I studied Machine Learning, including CNNs, GANs, LSTMs, autoencoders, and attention mechanisms, and how these techniques apply to bioinformatics — such as AlphaFold, AttOmics, EnzBERT, and Cell2Sentence. I am familiar with TensorFlow, Keras, and PyTorch.
Since my bachelor's degree, I have routinely applied statistical methods: from hypothesis testing and differential expression analysis (e.g., RNA-seq) to discriminatory analysis, PCA/PCoA, survival analysis, and correlation.
As my master's degree was centered around bioinformatics and biostatistics for OMICs data analysis, I have studied the following concepts and applications:
Before getting into bioinformatics, I am a biologist. Therefore, I have knowledge about environments (marine, continental), ecotoxicology, ecophysiology, behavioral ecology and botany. I also did field work and laboratory work (species identification).
I value open science and reproducibility, and I enjoy learning constantly about bioinformatics and biology. I currently speak French (Native), Reunionese creole (Native), English (bilingual), Spanish (professional working proficiency), Japanese (professional working proficiency) and Hindi (elementary proficiency). I studied Latin for 5 years and have basic knowledge of Odia, as well as Chinese notions.
